Il Ă©tait une fois... L'histoire de la salle dans les grandes lignes Ăcrit par Lewis Carroll puis adaptĂ© par Disney, Alice aux Pays des Merveilles est lâun des contes pour enfants le plus cĂ©lĂšbre. Lâinnocence et la naĂŻvetĂ© de lâhĂ©roĂŻne, les personnages loufoques et dĂ©jantĂ©s, les dĂ©cors fantastiques et sombres, tout est remarquable. Câest donc avec beaucoup dâimpatience que nous allons partir Ă la dĂ©couverte de lâauteur qui se cache derriĂšre cette histoire rocambolesque aux accents de magie. Une course contre le temps dans un monde oĂč les lapins sont toujours en retard, affrontant perpĂ©tuellement la petite aiguille. Nous partons ainsi Ă la rencontre dâun monde entre rĂ©cit, fiction et rĂȘves hallucinatoires. Ă pas de loup, dans la mĂ©moire de Lewis Carroll, nous allons devoir recoller les morceaux dâun puzzle littĂ©raire. Les pages du romans en tĂȘte, nous espĂ©rons ĂȘtre agrĂ©ablement surpris, transportĂ©s poĂ©tiquement par des clins dâĆil qui ont bercĂ©s notre enfance. Lâunivers de lâĂ©crivain y est trĂšs marquĂ© machine Ă Ă©crire, livres, gravures⊠Pourtant, en surface, tout semble lisse, comme si le temps avait figĂ© ce lieu pour mieux pouvoir lâexplorer. Nous allumons la lumiĂšre, jetons quelques regards fĂ©briles autours de nous Ă la recherche dâune perspective familiĂšre et sommes surpris par une voix grave entamant un monologue doucereux. Lewis, puisquâil sâagit de lâauteur lui-mĂȘme, sâadresse Ă Alice et lui prĂ©sente les rĂšgles du jeu une heure pour se remĂ©morer des souvenirs, voguer entre rĂȘve et rĂ©alitĂ© et aller au bout de lâintrigue. Lâendroit est rempli de nombreux objets, artefacts et outils de travail, câest un vĂ©ritable capharnaĂŒm, Ă lâimage dâun lieu de vie oĂč la crĂ©ation est quotidienne. Il nous faudra donc beaucoup fouiller, car les indices ne sont pas toujours lĂ oĂč on les attends. En effet, les cachettes sont nombreuses, tantĂŽt camouflĂ©es habilement dans des recoins invisibles tantĂŽt intĂ©grĂ©es Ă notre champ de vision, si simplement, quâelles se confondent avec le dĂ©cor. Ă quatre pattes, accroupis, debout, pliĂ©s en trois, dans le noir, synchronisĂ©s, Ă plat ventre, tout est bon pour changer de point de vue et remettre en question ce que nos yeux perçoivent. Les murs ont des oreilles, sâexpriment et les parois parlent. Les indices sont dĂ©livrĂ©s en lettres de lumiĂšre via un miroir magique, accrochĂ© au mur. La narration est agrĂ©able car elle sâaccorde Ă notre niveau de progression lâaide du game-master intervient quand nous en avons besoin. Cependant, le rythme nâest pas toujours constant. Nous enchainons moments de frĂ©nĂ©sie et instants de calme plat, sur une intrigue parsemĂ©e de dos dâĂąne. En un claquement de doigts, tout sâaccĂ©lĂšre, tout sâenchaĂźne, une cascade dâĂ©motions, une rĂ©action en chaĂźne indomptable. Davantage poussĂ©s par notre instinct que notre logique, comme si lâintuition prenait le dessus, nous automatisons nos mouvements. Les cinq derniĂšres minutes sont stressantes, et reposent sur une mĂ©moire qui peut vous jouer des tours, attention Ă bien noter visuellement chaque dĂ©tails dans un coin de votre tĂȘte. Nous parvenons Ă rassembler toutes les piĂšces du puzzle au bout dâenviron 59 minutes, moins dâune minute avant la fin du sablier. Contrairement au reste de la salle qui est plutĂŽt plaisant, le final, lui, est quelque peu plat. Pas de plot twist ni de chamboulement, une clef tout simplement. Une aventure au cĂŽtĂ© de lâĂ©crivain, que nous espĂ©rions plus dĂ©lurĂ©e, plus folle, proche dâune transe sous acide, oĂč chenilles fumant la chicha et chats roses invisibles nous auraient tenu la main.
