Has to be seen in the cinema for full impact. i think watching this as part of manchester international festival with a fat sound system favoured my score but i do feel like this gave such a rich history of techno all over the world and i very much loved. made me miss the club though <\3 Too in the middle between a documentary about Laurent garnier and house/techno. Acid house documentaries are my fave genre A bombastic French tale of an ugly duckling striving to become a little prince. All the Kickstarter budget was generously spent on close-ups of Monsieur Garnier and his more famous and significant counterparts, diluted with home videos and a small share of the narcotic chronicle of the 90s club scene formation — a truly important and interesting topic sacrificed and dishonestly silenced in this ninety-minute narcissism. Lag niet aan de film Why did I think it would be a good idea to watch a documentary about techno music, full of scenes from packed clubs and festivals? I almost forgot I still miss this. Of course the best thing is the soundtrack, what did you expect? Second best is the message behind this, a story of electronic music told by the eyes of an historical figure, not a documentation of reality, a story from the eyes and it works well at showing that. It's also a great deal between the need of the directors to show off the situation in a cool, direct and appealing way and the need to show the intimate side of a person, there's both, and it works just enough to get things some kind of need in this to get political but it kinda leaves the reality out of the thing, so it's good to live in this magical world of Laurent Garnier and write names in Helvetica and have fun at parties.
